Both North Carolina natives – Brian growing up in the mountains of Asheville and Richard hailing from the beaches of Manteo; as young adults they both settled in Raleigh and met over 20 years ago.

Since graduating North Carolina State University with a degree in Environmental Engineering – GO PACK! – Brian earned his North Carolina Professionals Engineers license and has gained invaluable experience as he cross trained in Geotechnical, Soils, Materials, Civil and Environmental Engineering.  When you combine his extensive background, passion for the enviroment and extremely outgoing personality – you end up with one of the most highly sought-after  Stormwater Engineers in the Triangle.

Richard’s deep respect of the environment, desire to be outdoors and propensity to help others have been key factors or combined together or key factors in his career path leading him to where he is today.   Once home from his service in the Navy, he gained experience in various engineering fields from surveying, geotechnical collections and the cell tower stuff and construction.  Richard was able to find a natural fit of consturction and helping the environment through the stormwater needs at hand.

In 2009 local municipalities began enforcing regulations on stormwater devices.  This initiative ensures Stormwater Control Devices (previously known as Best Management Practices, or BMP) are acting as intended by being properly maintained.  Compliant devices support not only our environment, but the Clean Water Act of This initiative helps support our environment and the Clean Water Act to ensure they are being properly maintained and performing as intended.  so they act as they were intended.

At the time the regulations and inspections became into effect within the local areas, Brian King was working with Harris Enginnering.   Together, Brian and John successfully created a Stormwater division that has serviced over 500 clients by providing maintence, inspections, and engineering expertise to ensure compliance for their clients stormwater devices specific to each local municipality.      It is through that division where inspection and engineering requirements are met to complete the inspections specific to each municipality.

Over the years as clients presented a growing need for construction repairs related to their stormwater needs, they often turned to Brian requesting his suggestions and recommendations for any local construction companies that sepcialize in stormwater devices.  It was out of the need to provide an option to clients that resulted in Brian and Richard joining forces to combine their Engineering and Constructions expertise, and the creation of StormWorx of North Carolina.
